~~Cover Reveal~~ Blackwater Burning

Coming this summer!  Blackwater Burning.
This is a western and it's a romance. I don't want to call it a western romance because this isn't your typical gushy, hot, bare-chested cowboy story. (nothing wrong with those, but this isn't it.)  Blackwater Burning has the adventure and tension of your man's favorite western, but with a back story of romance that will keep women turning pages.  I for one, LOVE these types of realistic gritty storylines.  Here's the cover! Look for it soon. Because nothing feels better than holding a real book.

I just received paperback copies of Horses from Heaven and One Hundred Horses.  Ahh...so satisfying. And THEN I got a glimpse of the Paperback version of Josey's Mountain which should be available next week.  So pretty!  Don't get me wrong, I love my Kindle stories, but there's something kind of magical about opening a real book.

Hot new release for my contemporary western romance readers!

Horses from Heaven has made its debut on Amazon and it's rocking!  Here's the blurb, cover and links for my latest release that will be available in paperback very soon.

I think, I fell in love with my own imaginary hero, Charlie Walters. Sigh.

After a tragic rodeo wreck leaves her a widow, Kendall barely has time to grieve. Instead, she finds herself standing between the horse and her father in-law’s rifle. He wants to even the score for the death of his son.
Her decision to protect Diablo exiles her from living at Rooster’s ranch, and makes her the target of gossip in their small town. Kendall has no choice but to take her son and Diablo to the only man who will rent her a home and work with Diablo; former bull-riding champion, Charlie Walters.
Charlie’s career made him a legend, and then gave him a body held together with nuts and bolts. The only reason he hasn’t caved into self-pity is the herd of wild horses that wandered onto his recently acquired ranch. Heaven Ranch felt more like hell until they showed up and demanded his attention. Add that to the sudden appearance of the beautiful widow, Kendall Stanley and her young son, and he finally feels a purpose again.
Tending to Diablo, and standing up to Rooster Stanley’s threats is easy. Convincing Kendall that being a cowboy isn’t a death sentence and a sin, is hard. It’s going to take a herd of wild horses to get her to change her heart and her mind, because he’s fallen in love and wants to give her more than the world, he wants to give her Heaven.

I LOVED writing this story.  I could relate to the struggles and the eventual victories of the heroine, her son, and even Rooster.  I hope you will enjoy falling in love with Charlie Walters like I did.

Cover Reveal for Children of the Horse; Many Faces. The final story of Snow Fire's Journey will be avail late March!

Yay!
We are so close to having this final book 3 of this series available to the public. I am excited to show you this cover of a sunset which perfectly closes this amazing tale of Erin McConaha and how her life took her from her homeland of Ireland, all the way to the shores of the Platte River and then finally where she experiences the Apaches of the Arizona Territory and gets caught in the Apache wars. If Bear Talker is to find and save the love of his heart, he will sacrifice it all to ensure Snow Fire Journey last beyond the written pages. Expect this tile by the end of March on Amazon.

After the disappearance of his wife and child, Bear Talker’s spirit is broken as he begins the trek north to reunite his people with Raven Eye and the rest of the band.

Erin, (Snow Fire) believes she’s been taken too far for her husband to rescue her, and falls into desperation. Afraid for her child’s safety in an unknown world, she reluctantly surrenders to the soldiers. With them, she encounters ridicule, abuse and the unexpected affections of an army officer.

Torn between duty and love, Officer, Douglas Wilder struggles with the decision to turn Erin over to the authorities for the murder of Liam Kern. That is, until he encounters an imposing Cheyenne chief whom claims responsibility not only for the murder, but also for the woman and child.

All three will sacrifice all they hold dear in the ultimate display of love.

The journey of life will test even the bravest of souls, but the journey of the heart is the only worth taking.

Author Sara Turnquist is on the Elite Blog today.

Good Friday morning.  It is always exciting to welcome other authors over to the blog.  Today, the lovely Sara Turnquist is here to talk about her newest title, Hope in Cripple Creek.

Welcome, Sara.  Please tell us about your inspiration for this story.

I have always loved the Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman series. I wanted to write something placed in that general time period. So, I asked my husband (who had lived in Colorado for a short time), "What's a small town in Colorado that would be a good place to set my story?" He responded with Cripple Creek, Colorado. I thought it sounded good. So, I started my research there. Then I uncovered this amazing story of a miners strike. It was pretty involved, actually. The governor and state militia even played a part in ending hostilities. The love story, is all my imagination. And the inspiration is a conglomeration of many things I've read and seen.

A personal reflection on the story:

This story is the hardest to boil down adequately into a paragraph for a back cover copy, in my opinion. It really has two story lines that are interwoven. One is very much based on actual events (the miner's strike featuring the main character's brother) and the love story. This is my fourth novel. And, while it's never a simple task to shrink a whole plot into one or two paragraphs, this one proved the most difficult. This novel is SO much more than what is written on the back blurb. It was also the first novel that underwent such deep editing. All of my novels have had the same number of editors, but this novel's editors really pushed me harder. Not because it was in worse shape, but because they "could see great potential in the story".

Blurb for the book,

Tragedy strikes Katherine Matthews and the small town of Cripple Creek, Colorado. An epidemic teams her with an old enemy, Wyatt Sullivan, the town’s doctor. In the midst of desperation and death, Katherine has decisions to make. But she has no idea to what extent they will affect her daily life and livelihood.  The town is turned upside-down when the gold miners go on strike. The owners bring in outside reinforcements, ready to break the resolve of the Western Federation of Miners. Everything in an upheaval, Katherine faces a crisis of faith and hard choices. Will life ever be normal again?

The Desk Report

TGIF!
I have great news! The Black Raven, White Dove novel will be released on Feb. 21st!  Yay! I cannot wait to see Bianca's and Steffan's love story hit Amazon.

I am currently 33K into what I believe, is going to be my best work yet. No joke. Horses from Heaven looks deep into a woman's struggle with the loss of a husband, the raising of their son, the challenges of falling in love again soon after, and all while fighting to save a dangerous horse.  This story is full of romance, the human experience and is sure to grab the heart

Hear Ye! Everyone gather around!
